The international conglomerate band, Suspect Parts, are releasing their first full-length LP on Taken By Surprise Records this October, but to get us ready for their Self-Titled ten-track release they’re dropping videos on YouTube to give us a taste of what we’re in for. American fans will be able to get the album from Oops Baby Records.

If you’re not already familiar with the Suspect Parts, now’s the time to get yourself acquainted. This apocalyptically poppy power group was mixed together by former and current members of The Briefs, Clorox Girls, Maniac, Ripchord, Radio Dead Ones and Red Dons. These suspects are spread across Germany, the UK and the US, but are coming together in Europe this October for a series of live shows and more reasons to buy their upcoming record.

These upcoming tracks, including the one featured in the video our friends at Taken By Surprise have sent us, ‘Run For Your Life,’ were recorded directly onto analog tape in -15 Celsius weather in east Berlin. They were even engineered by Smail Shock, of Berlin’s legendary punk band, The Shocks. Yanno, just in case you needed another reason to click on this video right this second and pick up their album when it drops on October 6.

The two-minute and 49-second long video starts off with simple chords and spinning reels before cutting into live footage of the band playing. The video is full of footage showcasing the band members not only playing, but also goofing off, driving and drinking. It sort of feels like the kind of home movies your relatives would show you in the early 90s, an aesthetic that I am frankly super here for.

I’ve not really got a grasp of the lyrics of the song yet, but the overall feel of the song reminds me of somewhat reminiscent love songs that take you back to a certain point in time.

Now, that’s definitely not to say that, that’s what the song’s about, because that take has literally nothing to do with the lyrics, just that’s the feel it gives me from the overall sound of it. I think that particular feel stems directly from their poppy/beachy 60s and 70s influences.

I feel like this would make a solid driving tune. Like the kind of track you’d play while riding down an open road on a sunny day. The chorus is super catchy and will absolutely get stuck in your head. It’s not a particularly fast-paced song, but it’s not slow-paced either.

To help give you an idea of the potential flow of the overall album, ‘Run For Your Life,’ is featured as track five on the album, so it will fall squarely in the middle of the album.

If you’ve not jumped on this video already, go ahead and give it a click now and get yourselves prepared for their upcoming release and Euro tour.
